Hello Fellow Collector, Welcome to the National Shaving Mug Collectors Association's (NSMCA) official website. NSMCA was founded in 1980 by a small enthusiastic group of local shaving mug collectors and is now an international organization with over 250 global members from 39 states and 4 foreign countries. Today, our membership collects not only shaving mugs, but barber bottles, razors, strops, barber poles, barber chairs, barber shop back bars, mug racks, shaving brushes, razor blade banks, bleeding bowls, ephemera and just about anything else that relates to a barber shop or barbering in general. We are an educational, non-profit organization dedicated to the collection, preservation, and exhibition of barber shop memorabilia and to accumulation and distribution of photographs, videos, special articles and reports by our members, and other informative items covering almost every aspect of whatever barber shop item(s) you collect. Our new website features in this public selection a "Collecting 101..." Series that provide our visitors the basics of collecting a variety of barber shop memorabilia, beginning with "A Primer on Collecting Shaving Mugs " that first appear in the November, 2006 issue of "Journal of Antiques and Collectibles". If you are a current member, visit our new "Members Only" section, where you can see and appreciate much of the resource information you have asked for in recent months. I pleased to report that you will soon find our NSMCA library on-line - vast 70+ year bibliography, collection of printed material covering all aspect of our barbering memorabilia, videos of our past meetings, and numerous articles and papers by NSMCA members who have authored books on their special interests, links to related organizations, our vast photographs gallery of our barbering collectibles, and many other features and regular columns that will make barbering memorabilia collecting more FUN. What if you are not a current member? That is no problem. Just use our "Join Us " feature to become a member and gain access to the "Members Only" section and start benefiting from the vast knowledge base of our membership, past and present. and If you have any comments or questions, please email me at
